Largemouth Bass with ICK

catappa (Almond) leaves boiled in water, leave the water too cool (dechlorinate water!), and add it to the tank, then put the leaves in the tank. you wont get ick again these leaves have antibacterial action for fish and stop the parasites returning, also they help the fish with healing , the only downside is your water will have a slight tea colour, but this makes the water look more natural for these fish. i have always used this method and ick has never returned to my fish over the 10 years of having fish, also use this method in my ponds :)

Fish are exposed to ich and other parasites and illnesses quite frequently - they become sick when their immune system becomes compromised and allows it to take hold. This is less common in a tank with clean water, and substrate that is cleaned during each water change, and when the fish is kept at the proper temperature.

I also agree that feeders are generally a no no, more for the internal parasite factor, and the likelihood of viruses and other illnesses that are harder or impossible to treat, rather than something more easily treatable like ich.

100% agree! Prevention is key, make it easy on yourself and get your fish on pellets, you will see color and growth pop!
