Lion tail oscar

they are called veiled(sp) tail, and RD, another rare time we agree. its a franken fish to me.
 
If I am not mistaken, there are long finned and veil tail fish. A long finned fish is a genetic mutation that has the abnormal gene from a single parent. It takes both parents having the abnormality to create a veil tailed fish.

Dgmannn412 Dgmannn412 don't take the negative comments personally, of course not everyone likes the same thing. Those are great photos of an obviously well cared for fish. It's more important how you care for your fish than what type of fish you have anyway.

Rob, i agree, I am sorry and apologize if it came out other wise, what ever fish a person has how they take care of it and how they feel about the fish is what matter.

I didn't take any offense pops, hell I am glad we don't all like the same thing. I have known for years that many people don't like "veil" oscars and at the extreme end of the scale I tend to agree especially when it causes the fish difficulty swimming.
 
I think the thing with the veils, the nice ones are nice and the funky ones, well they're funky looking but some of nicer specimens(like pictured) are impressive. I do think they are slightly more difficult to care/breed for.
 
To each there own. I have had an interesting experience with this fish to say the least. I agree that intentionally mutating a fish is not rite but I had no part in making it that way. I am just ensuring it's spoiled beyond compare for the time it get to care for it.

POTM isn't running right now. I was running it until my life fell apart. I hope to be involved more in the community in the near future to hopefully help bring it back.
