I will be getting either an "electric blue lobster" or a red swamp crayfish in the next month or so. I know they will take small fish, worms, frogs, many insects, and shrimp, but what about things like:

Snails
Mealworms
Freshwater clams
Bettas
Slugs
Sliced meat (what kinds?)
Pinkie mice
Any insects you know of that aren't venomous or toxic in any way

Thanks, Wight

You should probably stay away from feeding your crayfish any shrimp as it may cause fatal illness in your crays. I feed my crays cooked (plain) chicken chunks which they just about all love to get. Crays will eat almost anything they can chew and aren't really picky at all.

they are scavengers, so as long as you mix it up and are reasonable, they are not that picky

Crayfish will eat pretty much anything, so you don't have to be to picky.

Well I'm not trying to be picky, I'm sorry if that's the message that was sent there.
I just want to make it interesting but avoid things that are known to be harmful or even have some connotations of being harmful - for example, any spiders. And yes, if pinkie mice are fed, it will go on youtube. ;)

Why would you feed it bettas?
I would feed it bettas because they are cheap, but also because a betta would be an interesting tankmate, but if it eventually gets eaten, they're 10 cents each...same with the freshwater clams, but they're free.

were r u at that u get bettas for that cheap??

i feed my cray guppies, rosies, fatheads, golfish, whatever plants i have in my tank, and apparently he eats my driftwood too! oh yeah and my blue cray killed and devoured my white cray too :( may you RIP Casper...
