looking to buy a spotted gar anything i should know about befor i get him??

really hhm i didnt kno they did that i see them in the same tank all the time on youtube well should i just keep a good eye on the pleco and gar to see what happens? the pleco dose helps keep my tank clean

Eh, I wouldn't chance it; it could decide to get it a snack of gar slime at any time.

You can always see about getting some large snails that don't breed like crazy; they'll do a good job of keeping the aquarium clean plus they will not bother the gar.
 
i did some reserch and everyone said that they only do that if you dont feed the pleco as well i feed him algae wafers and algae balls so ill just keep a good eye on him thanks tho

not sure of your research if "everyone" said that they "only" do that if you don't feed the pleco...i had a well-fed pleco that did it to a shortnose gar and resulted in a fatal infection (this was long before there was info available about this happening with gars...now there is plenty, so no excuse for it to happen. same thing with a well-fed synodontis).

you can take the risk, but keep in mind that it only takes one "attack" for a fatal infection to potentially set in.--

well im just going to keep one eye open on them for now the pleco in there hasn't came off the glass scene the day i put him in that tank so ill just keep my fingers crossed

Not the wisest method of fishkeeping, as both fish will be more active at night and that is when it would most likely happen.

But to each their own. :thumbsup:
