okay, ive been askin if any of u poly fans have an opinon on P.TEUGELSI? I think my spelling is correct. Please let me Know what u guys think of think fish.Oh and of course feel free to share any and information with me.

Ive heard that by putting some polys on certain substrates one can inhance the polys color. Any truth to this?

Yes there is some truth behind this. I have two tanks setup. One is setup with dark substrate to make the bichirs looked dark. The other is setup with a beige color bottom which make my bichirs very light in colors. Bichirs color will change from dark to light and vice versa. I think the main reason behind this is in the wild this is a camouflouge as a defensive mechanism and for hunting prey. they get bigger than that. around 20" TL is the largest i'm aware of.

20" in an aquarium or in the wild? Just like people say Endli get 34" but I have yet to see anything bigger than 24" in an aquarium.

they're imported at that size, so in a sense, both. all the ones i've seen imported are relatively large specimens, so it's unclear how big a small one will get in captivity, or how long that'll take. But the fact remains that their growth doesn't max out at 16" under natural circumstances (its even possible that their max size is >20" in the wild...who knows....). As for growth in captivity, there's just no data as of now.

the largest i've seen listed for endli max size is around 30", but yeah i have yet to see one getting this big...
