I moved the tropical tank to the garage after getting tired of my hot humid house in the summer. So for a few months now ive been a goldfish keeper.

They are too cool! As entertaining at feeding time as any fish ive owned.

I ordered 9x from nextdaykoi, received 10x, now 7x remain after i struggled to but was ultimately somewhat successful in treating some kind of unfamiliar fungal outbreak.

For some reason they get into goal line formation when i change water.

When i received these fish by airmail, i thought all of the water had drained out of the bag, but it turns out they had been packaged in just barely enough water to keep them wet. I immediately thought they were all dead and there had been a mistake, but looked closer to see they were all breathing fine. Is this common when shipping fancy goldies? Maybe to keep them from damaging fins in transit or something? Or maybe just to show off how resilient shubunkin are to oxygen deprevation?

To answer your question, most goldfish breeders and fish breeders in general will put just enough water to cover the fish, because more water does not necessarily equate to more oxygen. More often than not, they will leave most of the room in the bag filled with air so there is more air to dizzolve into the water therefore equating to more oxygen for the fish. Hope this helps!

Also more water means more $$$ as the shipment becomes heavier

Welcome to the fold! Goldfish are indeed too cool; I love the look of those shubunkins and am actually considering getting a couple to add to my group of orange, white and natural-colour ones.

I saw some nice shubunkins about the right size on my last trip into town. Just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of paying more than 25 cents for a goldfish...:)

You charge your batteries on the top of the tank?
Lol, Backfromthedead Backfromthedead is one of those weird DIY guys; I know the type. :)

He probably has batteries charging all through his house...:)

He seems to have developed a strange stutter too, looking at his thread title. Either that or his finger kept slipping as he was typing!

And if that battery charger falls into his tank he may well have a load of D-D-D-D-Dead Shubunkins on his hands!! Lol.

Nice fish by the way:thumbsup:
