Macrobrachium shrimp

I got these to feed my Mbu
But it doesn’t like them
I think it’s scared of them!

In Taiwan, there are indoor shrimpin' ponds. You pay for a tiny rod, bait and a time slot. Usually an hour or two. Then sit around an aerated pond catching these guys. Once you have enough or time is up, you put a stick up its butt, roll it in salt and put it in the oven.
I however, do not eat many freshwater animals.

While I love the idea of catching them, not 100% certain about eating them. I'd rather have one for a pet lol.

The first time I went to Costa Rica in the 80’s (I have since been several times and worked there for over a month at a time), it was still common to be given (‘bocas’, or ‘boquitas’, i.e., small servings of whatever they had going) at bars, corner stores or pubs. In rural areas, pit-seared Macrobrachium were choice boquitas at a few places out in the field. Excellent! The practice of boquitas continues at a few places in San Jose, but mostly now only in smaller towns, and much less, and typically they are not free anymore.

Awesome that first blue one looks like a Hancocks River prawn I saw lots of them around Costa Rica.
