magnum canister filters???

has any one used them?? i was thinking about getting a magnum 350 for my new tank im getting soon so i was wondering if they are any good(would get a xP4 but i dont have that kind of cash) and was also wondering about the H.O.T magnum compact filter for my 20 gal


so what it basicaly boils down to; has anyone had good results from them?

Funny I am cleaning mine now, and about to store that piece of crap away.

They are good filters just pain in the butt to clean them and keep them from leaking.

Yes, they are powerful and quiet. Except when the motor not primed then it makes this chalk on the board screeching sound that will drive you crazy. As far as media just fill it with ceramic rings.

when I say maintenance I mean everytime you need to clean and open the filter the water will splash everywhere all over the floor.

so hold it over the tank to open it

I had 2 before and sold the other one good filter for me but it's not the primary filter though but hard to clean if it does not have a quick disconnect valve.

I just did that and the opening shoot out water right into my face.....

ok so that is a no-no just take it outside i guess

Then you gotta take the in/out flow outside with you, and water will shoot out there.
Just prepare to get wet, unless you have a disconnect valve.
