Hello, i am wondering what african cichlids and bottomfeeders are compatible with Malawi Eye Biter cichlid, thanks!

additional questions
can a malawi eye biter live in a 55 gallon or 75 gallon aquarium?
should a malawi eye biter have a sand bottom or a gravel bottom in the tank?
will a malawi eye biter live well in a PH of 7?

1. They do well with other African Haplochromines and some of the larger peacock species
2. They should be OK in a 75
3. Either should work. Go with what you prefer.
4. They should be fine in 7.0

thanks! are these fish compatible with a malawi eye biter in a 75 gallon? and which ones will best get along with the eye biter?

Male Electric Blue Ahli
Bumblebee
Malawi Blue Dolphin
featherfin catfish (Synodontis eupterus)

They all should be fine. Like most cichlids if you have multiple males and a female to fight over there can be issues but as long as you have some cover in the tank it should work.

All sounds good except the tank size, they get almost a foot long and I think a 90 would be more of a minimum than a 75, but a 75 is a good grow-out tank until it becomes a small adult

A 90 has the exact same footprint as a 75. You're not gaining anything but a bit more water to dilute.

I doubt the bumblebee would work. They can be pretty aggressive.

Feed them a quality cichlid pellet and you should be good to go.

thank you so much! should i feed them vegetable pellets and vegetable flakes or should they be fed normal cichlid pellets and normal cichlid flakes? i am also wondering if the malawi eye biter, malawi blue dolphin, and the electric blue ahli are immune to malawi bloat, thanks!

One of the coolest common names in the fish hobby in my opinion and one of my favorite African cichlids. The albino form is nice also if you can find one..I would try to get them onto a carnivore type of pellet rather than a veggie based one, they are hunters in the wild after all.I have kept some of the other fish you have mentioned but have never had a problem with Malawai bloat so I can't speak on it.
