Male Kribensis weird lump on head.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could try adding epsom salt at 1 tablespoon per ten gallons. It reduces swelling. Don't add it all at once (like maybe 50% one day, and 50% the next), and mix it with water before adding to the tank. Do please provide your ammonia, and nitrate levels. I can't stress the importance of these enough when it comes to determining what's wrong. They are just as important as a photo, if not more. Please provide them so we can get this guy back on the road to health.

So over a little bit of time the redness and swelling has reduced. The lump seems to have a white scabby look on the left side of the lump, close to his eye. But the lump seems to be reducing along with slowly turning the color of his normal skin. Hopefully this is a good sign!!!

It does sound like it's healing! Keep us updated!

so i thought it was gettin better but i think its worse now...... It looked as though it was healing for a bit but now im getting worried for my other fish....

Im uploading some pics. Im now considering it might be HITH. Is HITH contagious to other fish, cause now my ctenopoma looks as tho hes got some scratches on his head. whats going on?????

Someone gimme some advice. Im going to do a 50% water change right now.

So can someone give me a for sure or not if this is whole in the head? My fish have been recently fighting a bit, maybe they just are hitting the driftwood. It would be very nice to have a for sure answer from someone though.....

It could be Hole in the Head disease or wounds from fighting. It's hard to say for sure because ther are so many funky fish diseases out there anymore that it could be anything or nothing at all. Keep an eye on it though because I don't like those two little white spots on the Kribs head at all.

Alright thanks for the help! Yea im trying to keep my eye on it as best as i can. Ive done two 50% water changes two days in a row. And i will now keep doing small water changes everyday or every other day. Yea the white spots on the kribs head look like weird flesh scabs and really worries me, anyways hopefully it works out. Thanks! Ill keep this thread updated.

Make sure to see if the white spots start to sink into the head area. If they do the it's probably Hole in the Head disease and look for any kind of discharge from those spots too. Treat it if you see any more symptoms.
