Marble Convict?!?!

By breeding two non-marble convicts? Random mutation. Luck.

yeah but you increase your chances of the mutation occuring if you use a pink con and a black con. It's a calico pattern, just like a cat. If i'm not mistaken.

Chances are the same no matter what fish you use.

Breed two marbled together is the eaisist way, they bred true. Hopeing for a random mutation may take a while. Ken

a black/blue convict with a pink one. some of the babies should come out as "marble" convicts

Rigggggght. Try that and tell me how it goes. Oh yeah, I can already tell you how it will go.

You'll get either 100% heterozygous (wild type) or 50% heterozygous 50% homozygous recessive depending on the genotype of the wild type convict (AA vs. aa).

Unless your fish has the marble gene in it's background you're not getting marbled fry unless you have a random mutation.

What you're saying is that if I breed a chocolate lab (dog) with a yellow lab, I'll get a lab that is yellow with spots of brown?

I bought some marbles a few months ago and have been wondering how to breed them. So they breed true? Thats cool. I'll fish a couple out the pond and give it a go! I have seen one of my wild type has paired with my biggest marble, but their fry keep getting eaten...that ponds a rough neighbourhood lol
