Marble Crayfish Help PLEASE?!?!?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is just a guess, but could it be because you moved several of them into a new environment that they started fighting which caused the losses?

I say this cause i was at the LFS the other day asking the shop owner if he wanted some marbles to sell, but he declined stating that whenever people give them to him, they start fighting in his tanks causing losses of claws or even death, even though they all came from the same batch in some one else's tanks...

I have absolutely no idea, I know I provided a ton of hiding places. Water was good, and Food was available to all. Maybe someone with more Kreb Experience will chime in???

I bought 6 marbled crays from Danger_Chicken. They were juvenile- not quite fully adults.

They are all cramped into a 20 gallon high atm, and all but 1 is holding.

My ph is 7.4- The temp is kept at 74..

I feed them sinking shrimp pellets, spirulina tabs, and the occasional piece of krill. Most of my crays are blue from the spirulina.

Ive not had aggression what so ever.

I keep these guys and they breed very well. I use pvc for hiding and lots and lots of lava rocks for the babies. I keep them in a 40 gallon breeder with guppies and platies! There is also some wood for hiding as well. They get along fine and the altercations that do occur are minor. I feed them boiled cucumbers and a diy frozen food mix I made for my fish. I sometimes give them a some fruit flavored Tums every month or two for calcium. I got them less than a year ago and my population has gone from 3 to maybe about 60 or more. Plus I think I have a couple in berry right now. I keep my temp kinda on the high side for the guppies at 78 Farenheit! I feed them at least once a day and sometimes twice. Ph I keep on the higher side and the ammonia and nitrate haven't given me any trouble yet. I also use an aqua clear filter with a sponge on the inlet to keep it from sucking the guppy and platy fry. Any ??? just hit me up and I will give an answer when I can! No expert but this has worked for me!

Since I've last posted on this thread, all 6 of them have berried, and hatched.

The babies are about 1/2" already, and I've got another berried already!

My large one Molted, and my Baby that I had left from the original four has molted 4 times. The large one is berried but it seems like sh4e's been berried forever and the smaller one has stopped attacking her food the way she was originally and is staying holed up in a tube a lot more. I'm assuming she's going to berry soon as she's just about 2"

How long do they stay berried before I'll see crawlers?

Also, FYI: Cardinal Tetras, and Glow Fish make a great clean up crew.

Mike
