Hi Everyone,

I now have purchased two (2) Marineland Bio-Wheel Emperor 400 Filters with zero success. I have followed all the instructions and watched multiple videos. I thought this was supposed to be a very simple filter to setup.

The first one made a terrible loud sound when plugged in. I thought the water level was not high enough, yet I filled it up to the brim and it made the same noise.

The second one makes a quieter noise, but the bio wheels do not spin, therefor I do not think it works.

Can someone please give me advice I am desperate at this point. Thank you!

You may have to pull up the intake tube on the 1st one and re sit the impeller. Also don't let sand get sucked into the intake tube it will destroy the impeller.

Pull the cartridges out of the second filter and replace. Make sure they are set in correctly.

Are the spray bars actually spraying on the wheel? At 3:11of this video, he mentions to use the spray bars to keep the wheels spinning after the filter is full of water and the water is coming out of the filter

The spray bar is not spraying water, any suggestion on how to fix that?

If it is not spraying water, then the spray bars are clogged with something. See the following instructions on how to remove the spray bar so you can check if there is something inside.

If you turn the filter on without the spray bar, there should be water coming out of the tube that connected to the spray bars.

As in the video, did you fill the filter box with water, before plugging it in?
Filling the filter body, primes the pump, if you don't fill the filter box without enough water running into the tank, it won't work.

Great thanks for all the quick replies, if I am unable to fix these filters can anyone recommend a similarly priced or cheaper alternative?
