I don't know how to tell the difference. I think I was told female once before but maybe someone on here can help to figure out the sex.
Jeff Rapps wrote a magazine article about Argentea and it said it takes 3 years for Argentea to be sexually mature. Compared to Amph's and Vieja that can breed at 6 months old. Raising Argentea is a waiting game.
I have 5 in a large tank, about 4-5 inches, hoping to get a breeding pair. I don't think I'm gonna be able to wait it out.

Has anyone every seen a Argentea cross with another vieja? That'd be one interesting looking fish if that happened.
Aha but technically they are not Vieja anymore. They're Maskoheros along with the beautiful Regani. I personally haven't seen a hybrid of that nature. Someone did post a piebald Argentea not too long ago, it was beautiful.
