We picked up this little fellow last weekend. About two inches long currently. He (she?) is all alone in a 90 gallon with a handful of tetras for the moment. Was sold as a “red devil” though assume he’s a standard Midas/devil mix. In any case we are excited to have him grow out and entertain the family. Already loves exploring the tank!

My wife named him Lemon Pie, so I guess that’s what we’ll call him. During a recent water change earlier today.

Just a short update and excuse to post a couple of photos (I pulled out my old Nikon D800 after buying a new card reader). I am amazed at how he is developing in just a few days. He has started to show daily colour changes will a lot of black now appearing on his snout and more pronounced on his various fins. The other day he actually knocked over that large head and since doing so has started to come out a lot more and is no longer afraid of anyone (too much anyway). He has started to pace the tank as I have seen bigger Midases do. It is as if he is already trying to tell me I am going to have to put him in the 5 foot tank before too long. "90 gallons ain't gonna hold me!" My son has renamed him Lemmie.

Bit of an update Lemmie has more than doubled in size in less than three months. He is now about five inches and eating and swimming like a champ. He can no longer fit in the head very well so we tipped it over to accommodate him. More and more aggressive and interactive every day. Leaped at my hand with food unit. Biting the hand. 😂
