Metronidazole 400mg tablets to flowerhorn ??

How should i feed metronidazole tablets to my flowerhorn who is suffering due to internal parasites ?? I'm having 400mg metronidazole tablets named "Metrogyl". What is the exact procedure and how long should the treatment be continued ?? I have gone through the sticky thread of using epsom salt but according to that epsom salt only helps in purging the dead parasites from fish body not killing them.So after metronidazole treatment should i treat him with epsom salt ?? I also read abt feeding through syringe, but that seems to be a risky way and my flowerhorn hasn't given up eating pellets. Also what abt water changes during the treatment ?? I read in one thread that 50% water change should be done before starting metro treatment.

I'm totally confused

salt will assist in killing parasites, as well as induce bowel movement and a bunch of other things. soak the pellets with the medicine at recommended dosage and let them sit and dry. I'm not familiar with that medicine, but it should have directions right? Most of the time you need to continue treatment for 4-5 days straight then do major water change before attempting treatment again, but again I don't know the dosage of your medicine.

One thing to note, if you're feeding directly, I don't see it being a big problem to your water. Most medicine for internal parasites are done via dissolving tablets into the tank which just sits in the water.

My one and a half inch Thaisilk flowerhorn was giving out white poop today, he was been overfeed two days back, i have dissolved two 400mg metrogyl tablets in my small tank,which are metronidazole which i usually prescribe for my patients, i feel two tablets are heavy dose for the little fish, will post here about changes soon .

I think that you should read the sticky again, magnesium sulphate (epsom salt) causes the death of the parasite S. vortens, aka Hexamita, it doesn't simply act as a purgative agent. The person stating the latter, is an internet idiot, and appeared to just be arguing with me for arguments sake.

Then I would suggest that you go to the Illness section of this site, and do a search on Metronidazole, and Noga. (as in Dr. Noga)
