Hey so my Green Terror's haven't eaten in a little more than a month and i'm pretty worried now. They were in a 75 by themselves and breeding. Almost overnight they both stopped eating and the male started beating her up. I seperated them and noticed that they both had white poo so i ordered some seachem metronidazole off of ebay. I've been treating them every day for the past week, but have not seen much improvement. As i understand it, this product should have them better in a few days. The male still has not eatin yet. He is acting like he feels normal otherwise. I have seen the female eat three peices of torn up krill, but thats all. Both of their poop has been pretty stringy and white. (Today's the female's looked like it ha a little color).

I'm worried about my fish. Does anyone know why this medication wouldn't be working? Or maybe i should be using something else?

As far as I know, Metronidazole only works when ingested. Dosing the water only works for saltwater fish because they drink water constantly, but freshwater fish do not, so they need to eat food that has been previously soaked in the meds for the treatment to be effective. Someone else might suggest a better treatment since your fish aren't eating.

I once had an emaciated Clown Loach with stringy poop that got completely cured by eating NLS Thera+A (anti-parasitic) formula. No treatment involved.

Search Epson salt on here, there is a good thread on mixing it with distilled water and squirting in down the fishes mouth with an eyedropper. The magnesium in the salts kill the parasites and isn't proceeds by the fish. Sorry I couldn't add the link but I'm on my phone.

ok thanks for the epsom salt suggestion. Where i could get my hands on a plastic pipett?

PS- the metronidazole came in a tube that said to treat 100-125mg per 10gal?

I never found one but they sell syringes without the needle for medicating birds. Call your local pet stores and vets.

used a solution of : 1 tablespoon per 500ml of water. I used an ear syringe to squirt some of this down both the male's and female's throats. I'll keep feeding and cleaning as usual and will be doing this once a night.

Hey MFK. I have been using this treatment on a daily basis for the past 16 days and still havn't seen results. They are pooping white and not eating. What options are left?

Usually if the fish is big enough I'll use a kids plastic syringe, fill it twice with the tanks water and add about a teaspoon of metronidazole. I then inject it directly into the fishes mouth and push the syringe in just past the gill plates and inject the metro into the gut. This works most of the time. Treating the tank with metro by just adding the powder is not effective IME.
