Well it all started when i thought it was time to upgrade....

found a good deal on a 150gallon. the guy had to remove the glass form his front room window to get it out, should of gave me warning signs..

the problem is a live in a flat, so the task at hand is to get this.

to here (did i mention its the top floor?):screwy:

the stairwell isnt too roomy, but just enough to give the illusion it fits.
Until you buy it and realise its like your new tv and it looks a lot bigger when you get it home.

first floor of three

the bars needed to be removed, they were heavy, wait until you see the bars on the second floor. they were heavier.
(would have liked to got pictures when they were off but dont think the removal men breaking their backs would have appreciated quite as much as you guys):D

First hurdle over, now up to the second floor, it wouldnt stand on its end at any point around the stairs as was about 6" too tall.
just fitted around this bit with about an inch to spare
IMGP1831.JPG
second floor, bigger gates and difficult to manouver through the gap created when the bars were removed, then feed back out of the gap with the weight.

well the end is in sight, and the hard part is over, the ceiling is higher in this bit, my door is the one on the right.

once up the stairs it again would not stand on its end, so we had to lift it over the banister and in through the front door.

ITS IN.....WELL ALMOST,

as we discovered it wouldnt stand on its end it needed to be fed into the kitchen at an angle, however that bit of b##tard wall wont allow it to be fed back out into the living room.
IMGP1839.JPG

absolutely gutted, so for now its here
IMGP1836.JPG :(

so close yet so far,

but i will get it in
how i here you ask,
well.... where theres a wall theres a way lol. :naughty:
the plan is to spot drill the wall and then knock it out.
it is a concrete wall, but is not load bearing so at least thats one good point.

IMGP18261.JPG

I have posted a note through my neighbours door, apologising for any inconvenience and that it will be moved monday.

i have not however, told her it will involve some disruption to her normal routine whilst she is subject her to a fair few hours of drilling and other non too relaxing noises as it involves knocking down a wall in the process. :grinno:

sorry there are no pictures of fish, but i will get pic's of the wall being knocked down, the mess i have managed to make, and probably the none too pleased look on the mrs face lol.

im sure eventually i will have it setup and the pics will be posted.

I just thought if anyone can relate to the hassles encountered so far its you guys.

the stand is higher than the tank and currently flat packed in the shed, getting that in is another story so will probably be cinder blocks and some 2x4 for the time being.

i will update as i go.

wish me luck.

the weight wont (although i dont want to curse myself so ill say shouldnt) be an issue, its going along the back wall which is adjacent to the stairwell so is concrete,

thats roughly 544 kilograms, can your floor support that? Beat me on the last post, guess you got it handled.

Even if the landlord doesn't appreciate your dedication to fish keeping, I do. Way to take the bull by the horns. Fortune favors the bold. Good luck with the rebuild, you can work on it while your new tank cycles.
