It is perma-plastic, and I think it would change shape under boiling water. Hot water would be better.

I mean they sell rectangle shaped terrariums.
Idk if what you have there is a nano or a micro, but you might have a hard time finding plants for something that small.

A quick dip in bleach and water can be super effective. Just make sure not to soak it too long to avoid any damage.
