I currently have two gold fish in my 55 g tank and plan to add a baby silver arowana to it. will it work? I hope gold fish can clean bottom and ar take food from up.

Yeah you can, I don't know why you would want to, but it is possible.

The only person around here who has an arowana has it with 3 huge goldfish in a 240. The goldfish were feeders but it never ate them and he conditioned the aro onto other foods and uses goldfish as a treat every now and then. But none the less, the fish is over a couple years old and the goldfish are from the first batch. Its a silver by the way (I doubt you could keep them with jardinis).

It wouldn't look like a bad combo, but you just got to find a temperature range that will work for the both of them. I think 78 degrees Farenheit would be good.

it works for me. at least for now.but you must prepare to take the risk, there never be a day without having your goldfish fin torn..
