Lol do you realize how much weight these men fighters drop to fight? Not even the men just walk in and fight without intensive training and dropping weight. Its really is a science, not a street fight

+1
Its a whole process. They all have nutritionist who make tons of money just to lay out a precise food plan. These are like 6-8 weeks. Plus these plans dictate workouts and whole camps. They also have a layoff time after the fight. Time to heal and rest. Not just from the fight, but also from the hardcore training and weight cuts. Contenders typically step up on short notice in an attempt to advance their carrier. Champs don't typically do this. For example when hendo (I believe) got hurt Sonnen (RIP) stepped up. However Bones declined the fight and got accused ducking him. I don't blame him. That whole camp is designed with an opponent specifically in mind.

lol, then yea! What's up with the stupid commenter askin about a fight so soon, he shoulda known!
:D
Seriously, part of that whole precise diet, x amount of heal time still sounds like jive to me :)

You need to watch the ultimate fighter or any fighting documentary or better yet.....prep for a fight at a specific weight class yourself and specific offensive/defensive game plan

Could Ronda fight again in 4 weeks? Yes, should she have to? No.

She needs contenders, not random names. She needs to spread her fights out so they can showcase other fighters to build the division. She's literally got one name left to fight. Maybe if someone strings a win streak together you can actually hype up a fight. Most the men champs fight what....2-3 times a year?

Wether you fight for 16 seconds or 3 rounds, you still train the same and cut weight.

one name left? who? cat zingano?

not really. cat was on her way to losing a unanimous decision to meisha before getting the finish. I agree that ronda is too good for everyone else in the division. the way I see it, she's not even that great overall. she's got the best judo and armbars but her striking is still only improving. it's a combination of a shallow pool of talent and her being better than everyone.

but she has the "it" factor, love her or hate her. she is carrying the whole women's division all on her own. for the next few years there is no one for her to fight if they can't bring in holly holms or somehow cyborg.

if I was cyborg i'd say I will make 135, sign to fight ronda and miss weight, get my purse deducted and fight ronda for a 3 round, non title fight. because I really don't see her making 135 to be honest.

as far as joe rogan asking her to fight in august, it wasn't his idea, the staff had told joe to ask and it pissed dana off that they did that. and I agree with him, it was a stupid thing to ask something like that immediately after a fight when you don't know anything that may have happened during the fight.

and it turns out that ronda has a cut on her hand that required 9 stitches to close. it was a wound that she said never had time to heal and it split open from a punch she threw in the fight

well, she stated the knee surgery wasn't something too serious but yea, it is something she wanted to take care of really soon. she had plan to do it after this fight.

she had said in the pre fight show that she would be able to fight before the year is over and one thing she wanted to do after last night was to take care of the knee

she had surgery on it when she was 16 and it is just something that is just standard wear and tear.

Clearly BJ Penn needed some rent money lol- he was terrible. Stood straight up with his chin up walking around doing nothing. This was all just for money. He's done!

oh my gosh. I actually agree with this, lol

it was hard to watch. it's always hard to watch the old guys fight, their body just can't do what their mind still wants to. we've never seen bj get cut open like that.

I have absolutely no idea what bj and his team was thinking with this game plan. the overly upright stance confused the hell outta me. it made his punches slow, wide open for leg kicks and was just asking to be taken down. when he actually threw punches, his hips weren't even behind the punches. even if he was to land, they had no pop at all.

just a weird game plan. very low volume of punches, no sub attempts,.....it'd be one thing if their plan was to get taken down but once on his back he had nothing to offer.
