Hey guys one of my importers in Africa is sending me a free polypterus mokelemembe with my order in the mail and I was wondering how long it could grow out in a 40 gallon.

Is it a 40 breeder? If so it could probably live in there for life as I believe they’re the smallest species of Polypterus

Do you know what tankmates I could possibly keep it with?

That depends on what kind of tank you want it to be. Could probably fit a Senegal if you want more bichirs or make it African themed with stuff like Congo tetras and jewel cichlid.
