Over the weekend I came upon a guy at a flea market who was selling baby alligators. They were under ten inches in length and he was charging two hundred bucks each for them.

Agree with your disclaimer. They are usually around 200-300 up here if you know an importer... You can usually get them for super cheap from farms in Florida, though with any paperwork/shipping, it may end up costing about the same.
Just a disclaimer:
I'm not encouraging people go out and by a crocodilian. They can be very dangerous animals if you don't have experience with them.... Start with something safer, like small varanids and find somebody who's willing to train you in crocodilians. Also check local laws.
Just cuz their illegal doesn't mean their hard to get,it's actually fairly easy to get a lot of illegal stuff (remember whenever there is a ban,and their is demand, there is also a black market, usually anyway).Agree with your disclaimer.
This guy had a rather dubious looking set up.It was a small space inside of an indoor flea market. He had a few other reptiles for sale;red ear sliders,a Savannah monitor and a few others....gators are illegal here and I've no idea where he even got them from.
