Most aggressive piranha?

fair enough X3ROX - maybe you should have researched more about the fish you were gonna buy (just by default) but I agree - if they had TEN on special offer, you'd assume they'd live together if you didn't know better.

I'd say it's pretty f##king ignorant and irresponsible of that company to do a deal on 10 rhoms, which need to be kept alone. Who the f##k has 10 tanks and wants to keep a rhom in each one? :D :D 10 red bellies sure, do a deal on, but 10 rhoms that's just dumb.

Just out of interest X3ROX - did you see any of the fighting? Did they get eaten or just injured and then died or what?

I dont think anyone buying 10 rhoms wants ten tanks but perhaps they wanted to resale them or maybe that had a ginormous tank and wanted to breed them. There is nothing wrong with companies discount items bought in bulk.

Elongatus hands down

Ive had many species of Ps, and elongatus was the ONLY piranha at 5 inches that I was afraid to put my hand in the tank. The person who sold it to me gave me a flowerhorn to test how mean it is, he told me to throw the FH into the bag. I threw it in and it demolished it. When I got home, I put it in my 60 gallon that had some plecos, it killed everything immediateley. It put my rhom to shame.

Yea i saw some fighting... Basically nipping... It took days for them to kill each other. First they would lose there tailfins, then their other fins would get nipped at. Some would get one eye ripped out... Then they'd live for awhile all messed up then one day i would come home and one would be floating on the top of the tank with only half its body... And slowly but surely the rohm's dissapeared till the one i have left now... None of his fins are gone and he looks beautiful.. I couldnt sell them because no one wanted to buy them because they are illegal where i live.

Anyways, the elongatus was mean as hell? Thats badass... Do you think a 55 gallon would be enough room for him?

interesting X3ROX - if every other rhom is dead and yours is unmarked, it's obviously an alpha rhom. Take good care of him, and put him in a bigger tank. Sure he has enough room for now, but the bigger the tank and filtration, the larger body of water you have, less waste, more stable etc.

Marlboro - jesus, that sounds nuts. How big do elongatus get? You sold him?

I have never taken much notice of the elongs, I thought rhoms and manuelis were supposedly more aggressive. But I'm not a P expert.

aquascape is an amazin company, they are not ignorant. many piranha hobbiests would buy multiple rhoms becuase they do growth experiaments. i know many people on my main site P-fury who do this. we want to test what diets and water compounds effect fish as they grow

sure thing p man dan, I'm sure they are a good company, but maybe to stop incidents like this - there should be a warning for novice fishkeepers that they can't keep them together. Most people without experience, will know about RBP's and know they are a shoaling fish etc.

Yea I currently had 10 baby rhoms and now i have one left LOL... anyways i moved the one 3" black into about a 25 ggallon tank and my 55 gallon has nothing in it. I am thinking of getting a super agressive piranha and i was just wondering what you all would consider to be the most aggressive piranha you can put in an aquarium?

I am current debating between either a Brandti or a Elongatus....

To my knowing manueli piranha of single varieties and cariba of shoal fish varieties. But all the piranhas are more or less shy and nervous.
