Most realistic plants

This is my first post on the site. I just sold my 75g about 3 months ago and I am eager to get back into the hobby. I have been thinking about a 220 ever since I first saw one at the LFS a few years back. Over the next couple months I am going to build basically everything for this 220g(Stand, canopy, SUMP, etc). This site has provided me with tons of info. I've alos been planning everything for this tank the past few weeks and a came to one decision and that is that the tank will be a non planted freshwater tank. I've had too many failures with planted tanks to go for it on my 220g. That being said.

Does anyone know what company/site makes the most realistic looking plants? I've bought some off ebay b4 and they got the job done but were not worth the money I paid. Any advice is well appreciated. Looking forward to getting my new apartment and getting this 220 started.

in that size tank i'd consider some nice manzanita driftwood instead of plants, there's a vendor on this site by the name of manzman or something along those lines who carries some great looking pieces.

As far as good looking fake plants, I'm not of much help there

Go to your local craft store, hobby lobby, old time pottery...whatever is local. Pick out your favorite style of silk plants. That's what I did with my 220, i mixed them with rocks and DW. They have a huge selection and it is less than half the price of "aquarium" fake plants.
 
I will deff look him up and see what he has. I usually do my own driftwood(stuff I pick near the river and then boil) but I'll bet his pieces look far better. Manzanita driftwood is one of my favorite decor.

The name of this site is Monster Fish Keepers which means monster tanks. I plan to have a monster tank but not monster fish. I want to go for a 220g community tank. More than likely the fish are going to need more cover. I plan to have a decent sized rock formation, a large piece of driftwood on the bottom, some driftwood hanging from the top and a moderate amount of plants. All this together should mean all the fish have places to hide if they need to.
 
I couldn't agree more with the suggestions provided already.

Do you have a Petland store in your area? They carry a really nice line of artificial plants...I think the name is Nature's Design, but I might be wrong. Its something like that anyway! If I get there in the next day or two, I will double check for you.

If I remember right, they are a bit pricey...$5-$10 per plant. But, they looked fantastic!
 
I get all of my fake plants from Hobby Lobby. They have a big selection. You can get large arrangements that can be easily separated and mixed with others. Most of the time they have 50% off sales too.
 
This is only some of the silk plants I ordered off of ebay. I got a lot of 24 different sizes for $64...........

Hmm I might have to stop in at michaels or somewhere else & check out the silk plant selection. I just added a bunch of anacharis to my 55 & its not turning out so well:\ Granted...I'm too lazy at the moment to try and add ferts, lights or c02 to help the plants along :grinno: Silk seems like a pretty good way to go in the meantime. Your pics have kind of sold the idea bodydub ;)
