Thinking about getting a breeding pair (1-2M 4-5F) of each of these species from Tampa bay cichlids, any idea of likelihood of success? Any chance for cross breeding? Potential problems?

I would not mix them, the nyererei is VERY aggressive...species tank.

Never two males, either species. I would do 4 females or more for 1 male msobo and 7 females or more for 1 male nyererei. I always keep Victorians in species tanks, the pure ones are just too rare and precious.

I did see conflicting opinions on m:f for msobo i will go 1m:5f to be safe..

How would a labeotropheus trewavasae colony hold up with the msobo?
Tampa bay has some OB marmalade cats which I would love a OB colony but his photos make them look not so great.

imperial tropical has some OB thumbi west that look nice.

Any OB suggestions with msobo?

I know jalo reefs are a common combo with msobo but looking for something else possibly

If you have a large enough tank, labeotropheus are fine with msobo. 1m:7f for the labeotropheus. Example if you have a 48x18 75G you shoot for 20 fish so either more females for each or add a 3rd species.

DJRansome DJRansome How about putting a colony of Msobo with a colony of Rock Kribensis, Paralabidochromis sauvagei? Any potential issues? Good M:F ratios?
I think the females of these species are yellow, correct?

I didn't look it up, but I believe parameters are different for Rock Kribs versus Mbuna. Most often it is best not to mix lakes or bodies of water.

Doesn't work. Msobo magunga females become territorial with age and will stress any other yellow fish that is not as assertive as them.
Msobo magunga works only with other mbuna and this also needs a lot of space. I would not try it under 125 g.
