Muppy!

How long did you have the female molly? (the mother) Was she with a male molly of any sort beforehand? The reason I ask is they can hold on to the sperm for a long time before it's used. If the female used older sperm it could explain why the other fry didn't do so well.

The fry didn't do so well because mollies and guppies don't mix, you can breed um but that doesn't mean you should.

Just got a new fry of platy this early morning. In reply to how sure i am about having a muppy i would say 100% due to the deformaty and the coloring of his tail. Exact match to my dragon guppy male, and the only green anywhere in my whole tank ever. I have never seen a platy or molly personally with green coloring. I no longer have any guppy left he was the last. High mortallity rate with its sickness and tempermentalness to temperature. Never had one live more than a year or two. I dont have any monster fish just tropical fish, molly, platy, tetra, cory, etc. I have two 120 gallon tanks and 4 ten gallon tanks. the 4 ten gallons are to keep a hospital and a breeding tank for each 120 gallon. I am letting my numbers dwindle enough to get into some monster fish but am still in the research stages.

pardon my wording before. i had a female dalmation molly with all male guppies, and got two batched of ugly and odd fry.
i accidently said platy, as i used to keep platys but got rid of them. so i was actually meaning to say molly

oh i see that makes more since.

Um the fish in picture is just normal molly, nothing special about it. Petstore mollies usually has genetic problems due to commerical breeding and home breeding (inbreeding) which can resulted into odd looking molly. Sorry but i dont think this muppy is really muppy, just normal sunset molly.

Here are some pics of my two sets of new fry. The red ones are sunburst platy and the ones with black on them are blue platy and black platy mix
