I had no change in water quality at all.I monitored that very closely the first time I tried.
Just 1 small dropping per plant was all I added.

My pond is 5 foot deep, this allows the koi to stay down the bottom away from the colder water near the surface.
It was -20 one year and all the fish survived.
I have no heating on the pond at all.

Thanks, some of the tropical plants around it are hard work in the winter but the pond itself,no problems.

Adam,sorry to derail.

Big surprise, your pond looks amazing.:D

Do you bring the tropical plants inside in the winter?

Adam,sorry to derail.
It's ok. I really kinda do want a pond, have for a long time. Would probably do shubunkins, unless I went really big on the pond. Not this year though after setting up the 125... maybe 2017 or 2018.
