I might be able to build s tank, but i am a complete NEWBE at fish keeping.. lol

I have all my test kits ready. I've been using stress Zyme to help cycle the tank.. it's crystal clear right now. I really don't know anyone that has a tank i could snag some water from.. The guy that has the Arow that's going in here is no fish keeper at all, and i really don't want any of that water in my tank.. I could hit up MisterE and get some off him though.. What you guys think of Stress Zyme.? I have heard mixed reviews on here about it..
I am sure other people on here are going to disagree with me, but here is what I suggest. You have such a huge amount of water, that I would just put a fish in there. Any ammonia the fish makes is going to be diluted by 500 gallons of water, there's really not that much danger. After 2 weeks, add another fish.

Since you plan on getting that Arro from that other guy anyhow, why not just get it now, along with some of his tank water? He'll certainly be better off in your big tank as opposed to the 40 gallon (?) that he's in now. If the guy is not doing water changes, that Arro is already getting exposed to excessive nitrates.. he'll be healthier in your tank.

EDIT: sorry for the out of date reply.. looks like that's exactly what you did.
