My 6" sanchezi piranha

Nice looking fish! What is that, a 29? Not judging, just curious.
In my admittedly limited experience, piranha can be skittish; mine never bit me, though... ouch!
He might calm down with some cover, like wood, or taller plants; just an idea, I'm no expert.

mite be so skittish because of the small tank he is in.

Majority of piranha species are skittish especially as juveniles. Some grow out of it as they mature. In my experience, they tend to stay skittish. Part of their survivalist nature.

I know! That was my guess too but I hope not

They always say piranhas are only dangerous when cornered or being transferred. Curious how he got bit but prob cuz it felt cornered cuz of the tank size

For sure. That tank needed a background at least so the fish would feel protected in a way, kind of like a cave if you know what I mean.
