My Aussie Native Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cheers Dudzy.

Tsubakai - the turtle is fine with them, they dont bother him, except for dinner time, they try to steal his food sometimes. Yeah the eeltail would be 20"+

Thanks aussiemonsters, they cod, yella, and eeltail have been together for a while. The others have grown up together. They have all been together since the beginning of the year.

They all get along fine, I had a big red scat in there, but took him out because he kept picking on my yellow belly eating him slim and nipping his fins. The Jack is quite placid, and quite personal, he will aways come out to see what im doing. The yella is really personal and follows me around the tank, he is always out in the open and shacks his head side to side at me begging for food. The cod wants to eat everything, he thinks all the food is his at dinner time. He ate my smaller 12" eeltail, and he had my salmon tail in his mouth, my missus found him with its head sticking out of his mouth, she rang me and said "The one with the big mouth had the little one in his mouth, I chased him with a stick and he spate him out" I said thanks darl. lol! I've seen him chasing the jack and toga when I skipped their feeding, I thought, he's not is he? So I keep the bugger with a full tummy at all times and he's ok. The bullrouts are funny, they beg for food and grunt once I've fed them to say, thanks!
The toga is fine with everyone and keeps to himself.

I will post more pics soon.

Yep, there is another smaller one in the log. The big one is about 8". The smaller one is about 6".

Yes I remember the scat issue they are bad for picking at slimy fish. You are doing very well, keep the Cod well fed for sure. Dont want to be a knocker or anything but the Jack will out grow them all fairly quickly and the dynamics will change, it will own the tank when it does. Best Large Native carnivore comm I have seen for a long time.

cheers
Steve.

Thanks Steve. Ive been told to watch the Jack, but I thought he would have changed already if he was going to turn nasty. I will keep an eye on him. He has been quite placid and doesnt bother anyone yet.

Here are some more photos, the first is when my cod ate the eeltail, its looks like he's belly is about to pop.

Really like the tank & stock-refreshing some out of the ordinary fish. I really like the Aussie fish-don't see them much here in UK. Nearly bought a Coal Grunter a while back and regret never getting it as never seen them for sale since :(
