What a tank, man!

Four q:

-- What's your jullieni source, not SB but standard? I've been looking for a decade. Alas.
-- Is the dorado causing any issues?
-- Are you not afraid the little jullieni barbs may become food sooner or later?
-- Are you not afraid the pleco will scratch your acrylic or worse, it's been reported that pleco can wear out a large valley in acrylic when attempting to dig a nest?
1. I don't have a source.. all of these were in a buddy's pond for over 10 years. They were all donated to me as he is getting up there in age and believes I will give them a great home.
2. None that I have noticed so far.. but keeping a close eye on that
3. A few of the bigger cats (Piraibas) will be moved to a bigger tank soon.. no real threats at the moment. The barbs are much bigger than they appear
4. I have never seen these guys on the side/front... tank is scratched up by the rays already :(

What ever happened to the wyckii? I've not seen it since your postin of it going in? Did it perish? It was it aggressive and you removed it?
$%##$% SB Gar got him... shredded him up... wasn't able to save the wyckii. Been searching for another one and when I find another one, it will have a tank of it's own.

Glad to hear the dorado is playing nice so far, one of my favorite noncats.

And how long before that occurred? Sucks as that was the first one I've seen like that. How did it behave for you prior to the incident?

That luteus dorsal flows so nicely in the vid you posted in YouTube. And don't know if you've seen the possible vulture damage that has been being shared, hopefully we don't get any similar stories from you

It was playing very nice... was in there for about 2 months before the !@#$@ gar killed it.
As for the Vulture cats.. I have seen zero signs that point that direction...plus I know people who have kept Vultures in comm. tanks for years with no issues.

I'm so excited....I just found out about a 2nd albino vulture today. Secured the fish already....let's hope they are a pair :)

This Vulture seems to have a taller profile compared to the one I currently have... fingers crossed!
Do you know how to sex them?would be something I've not been enlightened of yet lol

A gorgeous specimen, I really like the albino vultures, maybe more so than the normal ones with their interest in pattern :) can't wait till it's in your hands

1. If/when you decide to let one or some go, keep me in mind, please.
2. That's promising. I placed my dorado in 4500 gal for a few months and there has been some damage, some fin nipping, etc. which I thought could have been the dorado, so I pulled it out but most of the damage or all of the damage I now think is the work of two Distichodus lusosso (both pulled) and two VATF (stayed for now). So, maybe I should give the dorado another chance.
3. Yeah, I don't know what to expect from them piraibas. Humongous mouth but so docile and reserved. Are yours the same? I've never seen any aggression from mine, not predatory, nor territorial, none. They get pushed around by others.
4. I didn't know rays scratch acrylic. Like I needed another reason for not wanting them, haha. Thanks for the info though, bro! You don't want a pleco-made valley in the bottom either - it may weaken the tank or what not. I may not matter either. Just saying something to remember and be on lookout.

Ouch. Man, this sucks. I've had similar blows, just not with such precious fish. But it's the price we pay for keeping fish menageries. What were the gar and the wyckii sizes? Was the gar large enough to even fathom an attack??

There is a pecking order among the 3 Piraibas... But they are not overly aggressive as far as I can tell. I'm surprised how much they have grown the past few months. I was expecting much slower growth. But they have hit a growth spurt!

As for the gar attack... they were about the same length. I should have moved the @#$! gars out sooner as I did notice tons of aggression coming from the two Short Bodied gars... they were super aggressive since they were small. I think the wyckii stood his ground and lost. I moved both the SB gars into the 4000 gallon tank and they are doing well in that tank.

As far as the plecos making a crater on the bottom.. :) it's tiled. But I do a 20 inch + Adonis who cut up my 15ft tank... after moving that pleco to the 4000.. I have never seen him on the panels, he seems to be content working the tiles. Weird but true. Funny thing that I have noticed is that most of the plecos in tiled tanks seem to be content with working the bottom only... I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience.

I have taken a rather deep liking to the J. Barbs so I don't think I will rehome them... Sorry.. However, my buddy has about 12 more of them with 5-6 of them being very very large.. we are trying to figure out how to catch and ship them with min. stress. I will bring you up the next we speak and see what his thoughts would be.
