Looking good. The thorichthys look to have settled in well, already showing nice colours..

Thanks! Yes they are much better in the sunlight too, not too crazy about the lighting on this tank right now, might switch it up

They're pretty little fishes!

Thanks! Yes I agree :)
Fish are looking fantastic. Can’t wait to see that irregularis grow.

Me either, pretty excited to get those guys big. I wish I could get better pics of them, but they literally never stop moving. Hyperactive little guys

Looks really good, how many irregularis did you get.
Thanks Dan, I've got 5 of them and 5 of the pasionis. Probably splitting the two groups up into two tanks when they all grow a bit, but for now they are playing nice

Looks great, how are they doing with gravel over sand

Thanks, they seem fine with the gravel, they dig through it after feeding time to get the leftovers. They might have preferred sand, but I was going for the CA river theme, and the examples I looked at had only pebbles on the bottom. Probably is sand somewhere under there, but in the flowing water sand gets carried away and rocks stay.

I like a mix of sand and gravel.
I do too, and there is actually a little bit of sand under the gravel leftover from before my move (I had all white sand on bottom setup for a few months with the small istlanum)
But this is what I was trying to recreate:

so only bought gravel for the new tank. It is relatively small grain gravel though, the thoricthys can still pick through it and dig around

Update: Fish have been in the tank about 2 months, are all doing well. Growing slowly but surely. Thoricthys seem to have put on about .5", the theraps a little less. Feeding only NLS and kelp flakes, no not a very high protein diet (to ward off bloat in the theraps).

I added a little more wood to fill the upper reaches of the tank. Also am letting diatoms grow on the rocks to match the colors better.
