My DIY Canister Filter

i know this is pretty old but i was wondering how this worked out. did you make a bigger one or did you just stay with this one? i've been looking for ideas on a diy can but keep coming back to this plan. i want to use a 5-6 gallon bucket but i can't seem to find an air tight lid. i love that it looks like an eheim classic.

if you cant find a lid just use a HUGE piece of PVC lol

thats cool i made my own canister filter too it is for my 100 gallon. i used a tie down to secure the lid though so it isn't as bad to open up however the pump is stuck on the canister and cannot be removed.

This is a beautiful DIY Project!
How much planning was involved to match the pumps physical size and the piping?

what guided your decision to design it pull instead of push? (pump after filter media)
or do you have water flowing top to bottom?

This canister failed due to lid design, I had to rework that part out, please check the following link to my revised canister. It works as a charm and is running from past 6months atleast.
