my diy fish trap....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lol its a plastic toy Great White shark. Its a patio screen not glass . I wish it was glass but screen will have to do since its a backyard patio ,

We've got 2ft plecos in the little canal by my place, not to mention giant koi, and whatever else the people in the trailer park have thrown in there. It's right in their back yard! Also the mini lake that they have there is stocked with unwanted fish. My friend's daughter caught an 18" pacu not too long ago. Gonna have to go netting in there too. Tis the season! You can also see all the nests the fish have made as you drive along the little canals here. So...... :D

gee plecos in your own backyard!, that would be frikon awsome. btw this might be a stupid question, but can common plecs live in cold water in little dams and stuff with other largish fish? and what water temps can they handle?

The water here S.florida is warm or VERY warm .
Even in the winter where temps probably average 70s during day 60s at night the water is still warm.
The canals and most lakes are big and fairly deep thus even in cold spells the water is warm to the touch.
If N.Florida is 70 degrees during winter S.Florida can easily be 80 .

In my case just as well I would drive trying to glance inside the canal .

The nests are mixed up with oscars, p bass, largemouth, etc. You can probably get some great stock by me. :naughty:

it is because it is easier to get in when the hit the funnel its easier just to follow it back in! but to come out the entrance is smaller to go out of instead of the funnel the funnel is a larger ebntrance!

i dont kno how else to explain that!
y have u got loads of pics of every 1s fish lol a grls off bebo lol i no 1 of them lol she lives by me n ma rtc on there lol :D

I am glad to hear that there are Oscars breeding. I have seen a couple swimming by but thought they were rare and didnt breed except for in the Glades.

I would never catch one but enjoy looking at them infact wont fish at all till peacock breeding season is over as want the fry to grow.
Someone I know took couple pics of firemouth pair off his lake dock this was off Doral Lakes.

I heard there are flagfish by Emilia Erehart park might try that this Sat unless that guy midnight has caught everything there by now lol

All of you Miami guys should organize an MFK meet and go fishing. Some of us from Central Florida might come :D

We'll be there for the pbass meet up anyway.
