your light stand made me think of another way of doing it! take a 4 or 5" pipe, cut it in half, and mount the ugly shop fixture inside it. that way all you see is a half tube sitting on top of your tank. you could paint it to match your tank.

the pipe actually matches the light good.
paint the pipe then the light might need painted. :irked:

and i raised mine above the tank cus of algae

Great idea! I love cheap alternatives to expensive products...And this looks good too!

You could also put a piece of rebar in the pipe for a little better rigidity.
