Nice pond and fish. Why doesn't your neighbor have any other fish in there with them? I wouldn't think the mekong cat would mess with the pimas since theya are veggie eaters. Some huge redtail cats and gars would look nice in there too.
i do it. nutro all the way baby!steal it from the wifes dogs catfish go ape for it! and its good quality omnivore food so hey win win cept for the dogs i guess but meh

As i mentioned earlier he did try to put in mekong catfish with them ... though after reading more on this thread (and learning some more) i am inclined to think it is just a large panagius cat (not necessarily gigas, even if he insists it is) ... much fighting followed, needless to say, paimas stayed the rest moved to the earth pond ... not so impressive or visible.
I think the owner is trying to breed paimas but so far no success ... he blames it on sterlization ... imo his water params do not mimick natural habitat ... can probably breed if he puts his paimas in earthpond ...but then they are not so visible no more

so true, though i dont feed my cats or paimas dog food ...i am not sure they would volunteer to eat it ... it would require breaking in. I was lucky, my cats accept catfish agri food ... paimas accept it too ...though reluctantly ...so i just give hikari to paimas from time to time (they love that stuff)... catfish and gars are not fast enough to compete ...
speaking of 3 gars, they really having difficulties competing for food against three paimas unless it is something oversized ...in which case paimas are not interested in ...no chance for prawns
my silver aro loved dog food... but i dont think falling in there would matter. hey arent particularly aggressive fish to ward something they cant fit in their mouth. If they wanted to they cud woop ur ass, but why would they?

paimas are not agro at all. neither mine nor my neighbors. It seems to me they get sluggish as they get older. When they were small they were really hyper - darting around, chasing each other etc ... now they don't even swim around much ...except during feeding ^^
actually, people frequently get inside that pond as it requires scrubbing quite often due to its semi-direct exposure to the sun (covered by green net). When i see kids in that pond it looks really eerie cos them paimas are wayyyyy bigger than the kids ... gotta try to photo the cleaning one of these days you could almost imagine it just pulling one under
