Understandable. I had a rough budget of a few grand for the whole project. Buying an Aqueon off the LFS floor vs a custom built aquarium saved me enough funds that I was able to get the lights I really wanted. If I went the custom aquarium route, I probably would have ended up with Finnex lights. I think I made the right decision.
I currently have a couple of finnex's. I like them because of the remote, which really works out with me being lazy and all.

SWEET SETUP!
Thanks!

My cycle is progressing. Ammonia is disappearing overnight, nitrite is off the charts, and nitrate is high as well. Hoping the nitrite-eating germs really take off here soon. I'm going to do some water changes the next couple days to bring it under control.

Must have been some snails on the plants I ordered (big surprise), because the little guys are popping up all over my manzanita branches. They don't seem to mind the toxic water conditions. Will the Thorichthys eat them when they get bigger?

I have mine programmed to be on when I'm (potentially) in my office aka man-cave. They're off when I'm sleeping, and at 5% while I'm at work. I run them full power basically from late afternoon until midnight. There is a little ramp up/down but you get the picture.
