Ozcar you are correct, I did make that mistake.

I will be adding some sort of stops on the acrylic this time to give me more sealant.

I'd take $10 + shipping on the removal kit.

Today will be spent clean off all the silicone and doing repairs to the plywood frame.

I love this tank! Need to buy a house before I can get one bigger. This was a good read during the 22 hours of labor this weekend. New baby girl and very bad ideas about monster tanks... :)

Congrats Turtlemaxxx I myself have also welcomed 2 little identical twin girls into the world this weekend and I have nothing but bad intentions for my own monster sized tank, same thing happened when my son was born 5 years ago... notice the Join Date and I guess my interest in fish gets much stronger around the time of having a baby in the house... guess cause I need something to do while being "stuck" in the house with the baby (ies)

Keep up the work VL!!! Been a great build so far!

Congrats on the new baby girl, and welcome to MFK.

Just to clarify, are you the proud mama or papa?

I am the pappa. Any house i end up buying has to have a basement because even a small 1000 sq ft ranch gets wide open spaces in the basement! which can make a little house look like a mansion.

One the topic of window instillation I am going off memory but when Bill Wann had his Reefzilla 14000 gallon reef build on reef central I remember he tracked down some one who installed windows in commercial aquariums to see how the pros do it. Back then he posted it for everyone but I remember he put backer rod, which is the round foam used for installing windows. He used that to clearance the windows from the frame and then filled all the gaps with a sealant that stayed flexible. Unfortunatly his build on that forum went south and he let the pics in photo bucket expire. I know he now has teh tank running and posts on another reef forum but can't remember which one. He seems like a good enough person who genuinely wants to spread knowledge so if you track him down he could probably be a great help with your windows.

I got mine at Home Depot and cut them in half and used them as a spacer between the bottom glass and side glass pieces of a large tank I was building. You wouldn't need to cut them. Then space every inch or so along the acrylic panels (you would need hundreds)
The ones I used were self adhesive, I stuck them on the glass first then applied the glue then pressed the pieces together. This made about an 1/8" space between the two pieces, keeping the glue in place. The glue completely surrounded (encased) the bumpers preventing any kind of leaks through the bumper area.
