My new baby electric eel

You might say he was shocked that he found one that small

I've seen one at my lfs that small before. However, the largest tank I have is a 55 gallon, and the eel was about $80

Here's the update after rewatching the first video I'm surprised at the growth too it's been almost exactly 2 months since I got him.

Is that another little fish in there i see?

This is from a pretty famous brazillian monster fish keeper, seems pretty fine to handfeed as long as they are used to it. These are 10" sardines he's feeding.

That's a tiny tank for such big fish. Are they okay like that?

Yep just some little guppies so he can eat whenever he wants.

Not ideal but they really aren't active all that much at that size. During the dry season they can survive in less water than that in the wild too. There was a rover monsters episode where he lassos them out of a puddle.

@J. H. I'm not really sure if that's ideal, I myself would put a fully grown one in any less than a 300 gallon. Their care requirements are actually more similar to lungfish than anything else.

Little bit of an update a few months ago a National Geographic photographer came and photographed the eel for Scientific American magazine. It just got published this month.
