My New Burmese Python! PICS

Good lookin' Burm. I remember when all of mine were that small. My 10 month old female, Bellus, is already pushing 7'. And Harley, my biggest girl, is pushing 14'...while Tank, my albino male, is pushing 10.5'.

It's good, that he's already on frozen. Sometimes, that can be a huge battle.

Wild style burms ftw! awesome snake, I saw 100s of them at houten and it was hard to resist, I've got my sites set on a green phase when I'm living alone after uni and I've paid off all my student loans LOL

how do the growth rates of your males and females compare? Im trying to get mine to a decent size as fast as I can while still ensuring his health.

He's pretty!!! Looks like he's fond of the camera too. Sounds like he's really calm and willing to cooperate.

Nice!

My large Burms, I didn't raise...they were either rescues of given to me. So, I'm not sure about compared growth rates. I do know that my 10 months old female was 21", when I bought her. In the 8 months I've had her, she's grown to a little over 6.5'.

At that age of yours, he needs to be on a 4 day feeding schedule. Prey should be big, but not too big...it needs to leave a good lump. I just picked up a baby, that's three weeks out of the egg and he's eating a rat pup, every 4 days, and he's barely 15" long.

Once it hits about 4 or 5 feet, you can knock it down to a weekly feeding.

Yea hes so mellow which is just what I was looking for. Not once has he tried to strike or even escape. I put him on the floor and then put my hand down and he slithered over onto my hand so I could pick him up :WHOA: I had no idea these guys could be so friendly :)

He is at 2' and I was planning on feeding twice a week with regular mice. Then has he thickens up moving to large mice and then small rat etc but keeping the twice a week routine throughout until hes large and moves to rabbits.

really?

I can see a large mouse but bigger than that seems like although he might be able to get it down he may not need it.

Trust me...give him small rats. Being as young as he is, he'll use almost every ounce of nutrition, from that rat.

My hatchling is barely 15" and already eating rat pups.
