To me my captive bred Polypterus bichir bichir is the one I enjoy the most.
The PBB is super active, accepts all food, is peaceful and is quite beautiful to watch.
Most Polys are easy to keep if you know what you are doing.
The only two species I've had issues with were my group of mokelembembe when they refused food for several weeks and did not leave their hiding spots and my two retropinnis when I had them with bichirs the same size/ slightly larger which made them very shy and they refused to eat a well.

Depends on their size and behaviour.
Currently they are seperated by size into tanks from 40in length to 6.5ft.
