Need for a cross brace?

Thanks for the insight everyone.

I tried a repair using lexan and bolting to the available sides, but w/o success. Ended up going to LFS and getting replacement cover (<$30). Fix took less than 1 hour - here is the procedure for anyone looking to do this in the future:

1. Use a dremel to score the rim around the top perimeter and then at each corner to allow the top to be broke off into a total of eight pieces (four sides x inside and out)

2. Gently pry each piece off using a taping knife.

3. Use a razor blade to remove as much residual silicone as possible.

4. Clean with isopropyl alcohol.

5. Apply aquarium safe silicone to inside of rim (run a bead in the trough of the rim).

6. Put rim on tank pressing down firmly. Add books to rim for a few hours to keep it settled.

After silicone cures your ready to go. Good luck everyone that tries this in the future.
