Need help to Raise KH and lower GH

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the info Tango. It is well appreciated and I most definitely look into it.

An update, all my snails and all my clams are dead. My pH, KH, and GH are all the same as last time. Maybe a disease hit them. My clam may have just been coincidence or who knows.

Thanks for the help everyone!

The subject of GH & KH can be as complex as you want to make it. If you just want to make sure your fish have the essential amount of calcium and magnesium, you can try using Nova Aqua which has the essential base electrolytes, which I use. Also, I believe Seachem makes a new product called "Replenish" which adds the essential electrolytes used up by the "biological system". The calcium in crushed coral will not significantly go into solution until you get the pH down to below 6.5. Also, you can try using Seachem Acid and Alkaline buffers. Below is a good li9nk on some articles I recently ran across in my search for ORP.

Thanks Tiny, I will bookmark it and read it in a little while. I just did another 50% today. Hopefully when I check the value everything will be a little better.
