Here is a link http://www.trilbytropicals.com/EHEIMPARTSHEETS.HTM to the Eheim manuals, the 2026 will be the 1st one on the list. I suggest printing it out for quick reference. You may have to scroll down the manual for the English instructions.

What type of fish food are you feeding? Some brands may stink more than others. Also check the tank lid or rim for trapped or uneaten food.

A high grade carbon such as chemi pure or biochemzorb may help with the smell and tend not to have to be replaced as often as standard carbon does. Chemipure elite has granular ferric oxide which may help with the green tint but to truely fix that you may want to think about a UV steralizer. A UV strleralizer will help water run clear and more importantly, will help kill parasites before an issue arises. Green water syndome (floating green algae) is very common during season changes due to warmer room temperatures. Also if the tank is in direct sunlight, or if the over head lighting is left on more than needed you may get Green water.

A healthy tank has an earthy, unoffensive smell.....and even then, you should only be able to detect it with your nose over the water. Using carbon and such is masking an underlying issue.
