So, to anyone who helped me on my Refutation essay last week, thank you so much. When I went over it with my teacher she said it was excellent and I know that I couldn't have done it without your input. :)

But now, I need to write a cause and effect essay. I want to relate it to my interest in fish because I've found out that it is easier and more fun to write about topics that I'm interested in. But I am at a total brain loss. The topic has to be relatively recent in modern culture (i.e. probably within the last decade or so) The only thing I don't want to write on is the BP oil incident because i know that it's going to be overplayed in my class.

So for anyone with any good ideas please tell me the cause(s) and the effect(s) and 3-4 strong supporting reasons for the cause or effect.

Here are some of the questions our teacher suggests that we should consider when writing our essays:
Who is responsible?
Who is affected?
Are there psychological causes/effects?
Are there physical causes/effects?
Are there ethical causes/effects?
Are there cultural causes/effects?
Are there technological causes/effects?
Are there economic causes/effects?

Much appreciation in advance to everyone who helps me out.

wait, nevermind, I found my topic reading the latest Buntbarsche Bulletin:

causes: erosion, pollution, and invasive species --> effect: endangered/extinct species

Now the question is whether I should make it just freshwater species or expand it to all animal and plant species

That is a good topic. The best bet is to stay focused on one area. You could mention that marine creatures are being affected too, but ONLY as an aside. I think you;ll find more info than you possibly need, and focusing that will only help.

I also plan to add exploitation as another cause, so I will have 4 body paragraphs.

Okay, yeah I think it will be better if I focus just on freshwater species, even though it may be more difficult to find scholarly articles to back up my claims. Any suggestions?
