Ok i am so disgusted right now. I just finish cleaning my pond and found small red worms! I dont know what they are but they are grossing me out. Any one know what they are? Are they harmful or beneficial? Will they over populate my pond?I did a little research online and i think it might be tubifex worms or blood worms and they also said they will grow in my filter! yuck!

They're probably blood worms... they're just mosquito larvae and will become food for whatever you stock your pond with.

They are not mosquito larvae. The red worms are bigger than the mosquito larvae but swims like them. I guess im going to have to order some mosquito fish now :irked:

I edited my post afterword, they're a midge larvae. Which are similar to mosquito larvae. Whats in the pond besides the worms?

three channel catfish, three baby red ear sliders, and three goldfish. Im planning on getting koi's soon. I hope my turtles eat them!

Do you think they will over populate my pond?

Your channel catfish probably feast on them at night. I wouldn't worry, they'll save you some money by becoming food for your cats. If your having problems with them over populating some crayfish will do a good job of eating them too.
