It looks like my Nerite laid eggs. Is it possible to remove them and create a tank to raise them in? I've never had saltwater, so I don't know how all this works but I'm assuming as they were laid in freshwater, they are infertile.

Here is a video I just took and uploaded.

Gonna have to start up a couple small tanks, say 5gal. Move parents into one. At the same time transition both to brackish. Parents lay eggs in one tank. Move parents to the second tank and transition back to fresh. Eggs hatch in first tank then transition to fresh.

I could be wrong but thinking about this seems the only way to do it.

Don't know if let's say they lay eggs on a rock in fresh water tank. Can you move the rock into a brackish tank and the eggs make it?

Honestly, I would think so. I may just try adding rocks in the tank and drop the algae wafers around them to encourage that. They should be able to hatch and move to larval stage in a small brackish tank and then be moved back to the fresh after reaching adolescence?

I really don't know, it's the sole reason I have nerite snails, they can't over run a tank with babies. But you get the eggs everywhere......

Jexnell Jexnell will they eat their own eggs if you scratch them off the glass?

I don't know. I have never bothered doing anything with their eggs. Every now and then I scrub them all off. Back the next day. I think the fish eat then, have not seen them doing it tho.
