Long time, Long, long time no update! Unfortunetly for me, I don't have any picture at the current moment, and I have been experiencing a few problems with the tank. First, let me say that the fish are GREAT! They continue to be my living TV, and are a blast to watch. I also passed on the fish love gene to my little girl, who is almost a year old now! She loves the fish so much, that we put her play pen fence, and run in front of the tank, and she will watch them for 30-60 minutes at a time. She follows them around when they swim, and she loves to help feed them!
I got a little more done on the stand, as in built drawers, but I still need to sand, stain, and poly the whole thing! I really just don't have the time since I am constantly chasing a mobile child, and have a 2 hour commute daily to my job! This is in fact where we run into the problem. I can home from work one day, was watching my TV, and noticed salt creep down the front of my tank. I cleaned it off, and didn't think anything of it. Next day, same thing, only over about an inch. I then start to think about it a little more, and watched for a while. I was under the inpression that the fish were getting rowdy and spashing water out. Boy, was I wrong! Apprearently, the local tank maker, did not seal the top rim of the tank well enough. It is not a major issue, since it is not a structural seam, but it still makes me mad. This tank isn't even 18 months old and is already leaking?!?
To make matter worse, when I contacted them about the issue, they went on to tell me that no tank should be filled that high, and the leaking is my fault, and they will do nothing for me. Excuse me?!?! I thought the whole point of a fish tank was to fill it with water and it hold up? I guess I must have been doing it wrong for all these years...
Needless to say, right now I have to run my water level down a few inches, until I can get up there and reseal that spot. Needless to say, I am irritated by the company, and have been looking for a new tank, that I don't need to worry about leaks, or backing what they make. If anyone has any good suggestions in the midwest or southern states, please let me know!
Other than the dumb leak, the Fluval filter are kicking butt, background looks as good as when I put it in (minus a little algea), and overall I am happy with it!
Also, if you don't have Olive nerite snails in your brackish tank, what are you waiting for?!?! Best cleaners ever! Pictures to come! Hopefully in the next few days!
