hey are there any top water oddballs (besides african butterfly fish) that can go in with gouramis...that wont kill the gouramis? but that same fish could possible go in with my africans or my convicts?

i wanted to get like a gar. or something..nothing big tho. something that stays up top like the AFB
Voss, what are those fish your store has that look kind of like a gar but they're really small? Bumpy, you looking for a huge fish or something smaller that swims in the top level?
Take a look at these: Leopard or Zebra Danio, Scissortail, Hatchetfish, Gourami, Killifish, Upside Down Catfish, Butterfly Fish, Archer Fish. I think most of those occupy the upper levels. Depending on what else you have in the tank, some of those might be food though.
by the way...everyone talks about plecos with piranhas....anyway i removed my pleco....a few weeks ago...and now my Pseudotropheus Saulosi and him fight like worse than i have ever seen...if the pleco goes near his hole the cichlid comes out and tries and does bite him...they literally look like the odl cartoons with the cloud of smoke... i dont know if he can pearce the armor of then pleco...i feel bad tho.
